Thrashers still selling tickets
By KIRK PENTON, QMI Agency

WINNIPEG - It might be comparable to violins playing on the deck of the Titanic as it sank, but the Atlanta Thrashers continue to sell season tickets for the 2011-12 NHL season.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Chris Vivlamore reported Friday morning the Thrashers are still selling seats for next season and their Select-A-Seat promotion scheduled for Saturday is going ahead.

“I’ve been told the Thrashers are still selling season tickets — with at least one being sold Friday,” Vivlamore wrote on his Twitter feed.

The Globe and Mail’s Stephen Brunt reported Thursday night the Atlanta Thrashers are moving to Winnipeg after True North Sports and Entertainment reached a purchase agreement with the Atlanta Spirit.

Even though True North and NHL officials denied the Globe and Mail report, a couple hundred people flocked to Portage and Main to celebrate the return of the NHL to Winnipeg, 15 years after it left for Phoenix.

Brunt reported a press conference to announce the news would be held on Tuesday in Winnipeg, although he has since indicated on several radio interviews his breaking of the story probably means that now won’t be the case.

Would Patrick Roy make a good coach for the Colorado Avalanche?
  Yes, he's perfect
  No, he's not ready
  Bring him to Montreal!
