By Sports Network

GLENDALE, Ariz -- The Atlanta Thrashers placed forwards Freddy Modin and Alex Burmistrov on injured reserve on Thursday.

The club did not state the nature of the injuries to either player, but the Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting, the 36-year-old Modin is suffering from an upper-body injury, while Burmistrov, a rookie, has a foot ailment.

Modin has appeared in 34 games this season and has registered seven goals and 10 points. His move is retroactive to February 7.

Burmistrov, 19, has tallied five goals and 12 helpers spanning 57 contests this year. His move is retroactive to February 11.

To help fill the roster, the Thrashers recalled veteran left wing Nigel Dawes from Chicago of the American Hockey League.

The 26-year-old has played in nine games for Atlanta this season, posting one assist.

In 208 career NHL contests, Dawes has tallied 39 goals and 45 assists over parts of five seasons with the New York Rangers, Phoenix, Calgary and Atlanta.
