ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Thrashers have traded forward Ben Eager to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a fifth round pick in the 2011 NHL Draft.

Eager, who turns 27 on Saturday, has posted three goals, seven assists and 77 penalty minutes in 34 games this season for the Thrashers, who signed the forward as a free agent in the off-season.

Eager spent last season with the Blackhawks and posted seven goals and nine assists with 120 penalty minutes over 60 games. In the playoffs, he had a goal and two assists over 18 contests to help Chicago win the Stanley Cup.

Over five-plus seasons in the NHL, which also included a stint with the Flyers, he has 30 goals and 32 assists with 698 penalty minutes in 289 games.
