Mike Babcock was scribbling notes and getting his hockey fix as the Edmonton Road Runners practised at The Pond yesterday morning. With the NHL lockout into its fourth month, such fixes have been few and far between for the bench boss of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, so Babcock wasn't about to pass up the chance to hang around the rink.

With the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks hosting the Runners for games tonight and tomorrow, this weekend's visit by the AHL farm team is as good as it gets.

"I get to see Cincy here twice in the first half and that's it,'' said Babcock. "As for the second half, who knows what I'm going to do, besides drive my wife crazy.''

Babcock eyes the situation in Edmonton with envy. At least Oilers' fans can watch the AHL full-time. "I think it's a really good thing Edmonton's done.''
