Time for the final report card for the seven Canadians teams in the 2014 draft.

Once again, Sun Media has enlisted the insight of Mark Seidel, chief scout with North American Central Scouting, this time to evaluate and grade the drafts of all the NHL organizations from the Great White North.

The bottom line: The Canucks hit a home run, the Maple Leafs did a solid job and the Senators, well, there is always next year’s draft, right?

Here are Seidel’s grades and scouting reports for the Leafs, Habs, Canucks, Oilers, Flames, Jets and Sens.

 

CANUCKS A+

Vancouver used their two first-round round picks wisely to acquire excellent pieces in Jake Virtanen and Jared McCann ... Both kids are very low risk and do a lot of important things to help their teams win ... They then got arguably the best goaltender in the draft, Thatcher Demko, who led Boston College to the Frozen Four as a freshman starter which is unheard of ..
