While the Leafs and Canadiens will renew hockey’s most storied rivalry on opening day of the 2014-15 season, the San Jose Sharks will be renewing some lingering bitter feelings in Los Angeles.
As part of a four-game curtain-raiser to the new campaign on Oct. 8, long-time foes Montreal and Toronto kick off their respective seasons for a sixth consecutive time. The Air Canada Centre will provide the stage for the Leafs and Habs, who are coming off an impressive playoff run that went all the way to the Eastern Conference final.
Of course, the emotions at the ACC that night will have difficulty rivaling those at the Staples Center, home of the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings.
While the Kings will be hoisting their second Stanley Cup banner in three seasons prior to the game, you can bet the Sharks will be looking for revenge after blowing a 3-0 lead in games to the Kings in the first round of the 2014 playoffs.
