The National Hockey League's head honchos made a trip to Seattle last week to meet with local politicians, according to a report.

Commissioner Gary Bettman and deputy commissioner Bill Daly met privately with King County executive Dow Constantine and Seattle mayor Ed Murray, King 5 News reported Tuesday.

Last week, the pair flew to the Pacific Northwest hub for a "meet and greet" with Constantine and Murray, Constantine's spokesperson, Frank Abe, told the Seattle TV station, adding "nothing was really brewing right now."

Bettman has said in the past the league likes Seattle's potential as an NHL city. However, without a venue in place, not much can be accomplished.

Constantine, King 5 said, has recently been quietly conversing with potential hockey team investors.

A group has already agreed to partially fund a new NBA/NHL arena in the city, according to King 5, with an environmental review currently in progress.
