The deeper the Los Angeles Kings grind their way through the playoff wars, the more patient teams interested in Los Angeles assistant John Stevens will have to be.
Don’t be surprised if some organizations feel this is one guy who is worth waiting for.
With the Vancouver Canucks, Carolina Hurricanes, Nashville Predators, Washington Capitals and Florida Panthers all having openings behind the bench right now, Stevens is believed to be a hot commodity in the quest to fill one of those coaching vacancies. Even Kings coach Darryl Sutter thinks so.
“Hey, I think Johnny is a head coach,” Sutter told reporters earlier this season. “I think he is a head coach with us.
“And does Johnny Stevens want to be a head coach? Absolutely.”
