The Stanley Cup pools are upon us, so it’s time for our annual look at some potential sleepers.

As we’ve said at this time before, it’s pretty much a futile exercise attempting to list the top 25, or even 10, playoff scorers because it depends on how far their teams advance. If every team was guaranteed the same number of games — as is the case during the regular season — it would be easy to quantify. But now we are left to decide between a first-line centre whose team might get swept in the first round and a defensive defenceman from a team that could advance to the Cup final and play as many as 28 games.

So what we’re offering here is a couple of players from each team that could surprise in the playoffs. Some you may have to grab in the first few rounds, while others can likely be had at the end.
