CALGARY - As Anaheim Ducks star Teemu Selanne takes his final turns in the NHL, the accolades will ring out like the nightly fireworks at Disneyland.

Not only will The Finnish Flash leave the league after this season with more than 700 goals and 1,500 points (counting playoffs), it will be with respect and admiration from all around the league.

As fantastic as Selanne has been as a player through his 21-year NHL career, he’s long been known as one of the game’s best people — be it with fans or the media.

One memory stands out most for yours truly.

Years ago — and I can’t remember whether it was during his final few seasons with the San Jose Sharks, his one campaign with the Colorado Avalanche or early in his second stint with the Ducks right after the 2004-05 lockout — Selanne was holding court for post-game interviews in the Saddledome.
