BOCA RATON, FLA. - At least one NHL guy has got it figured out when it comes to faceoffs.

"It might be a bit of a generalization," he said, "but the best faceoff guys are the best cheaters."

With that in mind, NHL general managers look like they are going to do what they can to cut down how much cheating goes on in the circle.

It can be a coach sending in a winger who has no intention but to get thrown out of the circle in order to buy his teammates a few more seconds of rest or try to get the opposition centreman thrown out.

The NHL has a bench minor delay-of-game penalty for teams guilty of two faceoff violations on the same faceoff, but officials have been loathe to call it.
