Evander Kane loved the line brawl during Saturday night's game between the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks, and he's not about to stop fighting just because he got hurt in a bout.

"Fighting's a part of the game," Kane said. "It's a good part of the game. It's a necessary part of the game. If the NHL had a debate (on fighting in hockey) I'd be on the fighting side, that's for sure. You have to have it to patrol the game."

Kane dropped the mitts with Tampa Bay defenceman Eric Brewer late in their Jan. 7 game, and it looked like he hit more of the blue-liner's helmet.

"Those type of things happen," Kane said. "He gave me a shot in the back and we were down by a couple of goals, so I'm not going to back down or accept that, let's put it that way."
