The St. Louis Blues will be without the services of their leading scorer for at least one game.

Alex Steen, fresh off signing a three-year $17.4 million contract extension, left the Blues' 6-0 win Saturday over the Edmonton Oilers after the second period with an upper-body injury.

Steen is being listed as day-to-day, and will miss Monday night's game in Calgary against the Flames. The Blues called up forward Dmitrij Jaskin from Chicago of the AHL.

On the season, Steen has 24 goals and 38 points in 35 games.

PUCK HITS GONCHAR'S FACE

Sergei Gonchar will be "out for a while" after he took a puck to the face on Saturday night.

The Dallas Stars defenceman was injured in the second period and didn't return in a game the San Jose Sharks won 3-2 in a shootout.

"He's all right," Stars coach Lindy Ruff told the Dallas Morning News. "He took a puck to the face and isn't feeling well, so he has to stay out for a while probably."

The 39-year-old NHL veteran has 12 assists in 35 games this season.

GABORIK INJURED AGAIN

In the first action since missing 17 games with a sprained knee, Columbus Blue Jackets forward Marian Gaborik went down with another injury.

Gaborik suffered a broken collarbone on a hit from Philadelphia Flyers centre Zac Rinaldo and defenceman Braydon Coburn during the first period of the Blue Jackets' 6-3 victory on Saturday night in Nationwide Arena.

The Blue Jackets announced during the game that Gaborik will be out indefinitely. The 31-year-old veteran just came off injured reserve on Friday after taking care of the knee issue.

On the play when the injury occurred, left winger Nick Foligno grabbed the rebound and fed centre Ryan Johansen for a 1-0 lead at 10:43 of the first period. Gaborik was credited with an assist on the goal.

Gaborik, who came to the Blue Jackets last season from the New York Rangers, has five goals and 12 points in 18 games this season.

BRIEFLY: New York Rangers defenceman Marc Staal has resumed skating as he works his way back from a concussion, which has sidelined him since Dec. 8 ... The Philadelphia Flyers will be without defenceman Erik Gustafsson for the next two weeks after he sprained his knee on Saturday.
