The Buffalo Sabres may make Ryan Miller the cornerstone of the franchise instead of trading the netminder and rebuilding the franchise.
Miller said he’s had conversations with Pat LaFontaine, the Sabres' president of hockey operations, regarding his future, but those talks were "just exploratory."
But even if the team speeds up their rebuild, it wouldn't necessarily be enough to keep Miller in Buffalo.
"I've heard a lot of talk over my time," Miller told the Buffalo News. "It's about actions at this point. I'm not going to sit around and let promises get thrown around."
Miller also said he appreciates interim coach Ted Nolan showing faith in him, even though the club has been struggling since the beginning of the season.
VISOR FOR WEBER
Shea Weber will return to the Nashville Predators lineup with a small addition to his helmet.
The Nashville Predators captain will don a visor when he returns to the ice after taking a puck to his eye in a Nov. 28 game against the Edmonton Oilers.
"Today was a good day," Weber told The Tennessean. "It was good to be back out there with the guys and skate with them and hopefully move forward to going ahead this week."
The Predators defenceman returned to practice Friday and could suit up in Washington against the Capitals on Saturday.
Weber said the pain has subsided and his vision has cleared up recently.
"When you can't see it is pretty scary," he said. "Apparently I was very lucky and it was just a little blood in the eye and it should all go away and be fine with time."
