An American singer says it was an "honest mistake" when she messed up the Canadian anthem, singing "God shed his grace on thee" instead of "we stand on guard for thee."
Jill Shackner sang the anthem Wednesday night before the New York Islanders took on the Winnipeg Jets on home ice.
"Hey Canadians! So sorry that I accidentally changed some words in your national anthem tonight. It was truly an honest mistake, promise," Shackner wrote on Twitter.
The mistake got a few laughs from Canadian players, but didn't seem to faze the Canadian team -- Winnipeg beat the Islanders 3-2.
