Finally, after a decade of legal delays and frustration, there is a trial date set in Steve Moore’s civil suit against Todd Bertuzzi and the former owners of the Vancouver Canucks.

The $38-million judge and jury trial is set to begin in Toronto on Sept. 8, 2014.

The trial will commence 10 years and almost six months after Bertuzzi ended Moore’s career in the most publicized hockey incident of Gary Bettman’s era as commissioner of the National Hockey League.

“It’s been a very long wait,” said Tim Danson, Moore’s lawyer. “It’s been a very difficult 10 years for Steve Moore but Steve and the Moore family are very happy at least they now have a hard, definitive date to put their case before a jury. And finally the opportunity to obtain justice for this terrible assault.”
