Another day, another shot to the head.

This time, Sabres enforcer John Scott knocked Boston Bruins winger Loui Eriksson out of the game six minutes into the third period in Buffalo Wednesday night.

Eriksson was helped to the dressing room following the hit and did not return. Scott received a match penalty for a head shot.

Eriksson had just finished dumping the puck into the Sabres end at centre ice when Scott leveled the Bruins forward with his shoulder.

"Loui is staying overnight in Buffalo for precautionary reasons," Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli said in a statement. "He is expected to return to Boston on Thursday."

Scott faces an in-person hearing with the league and could be the second Sabres player disciplined for a hit to the head. Patrick Kaleta received a 10-game suspension for his hit on Columbus Blue Jackets defenceman Jack Johnson on Oct. 10.

The league has already handed out punishment to 14 players for a total of 71 games this season for various offences.

The Bruins won the game 5-2.
