Detroit Red Wings defenceman Niklas Kronwall feels he is partly to blame for the illegal hit he received from Colorado Avalanche forward Cody McLeod Thursday.

“I shouldn’t put myself in that situation,” Kronwall told the Mlive.com. “I know he’s a forechecker, he’s one of their more physical guys, (but) he’s just trying to do his job and I put both of us in a bad spot.”

McLeod faces an in-person hearing with NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan Monday in New York.

Kronwall has not experienced any ill effects of a mild concussion and could be back in the Wings lineup in the next few days.

“I feel really good, actually, after the circumstances. No issues. So far so good,” he said.
