This could be a fairly bountiful year for rookies around the NHL. The lowered salary cap has prompted many teams to go with kids over higher-priced veterans. And while several rookies already are contributing like seasoned pros, we all know that the real test will be maintaining that pace (or something close to it) as the season grinds on and opposing coaches begin game-planning around stopping them. So let’s take a look at some of the future fantasy value of some of the more notable rookies:

Mark Arcobello EDM: This year’s Cory Conacher? Diminutive and undrafted, he has eight assists in his first eight games (with a plus-5) and only a highlight-reel save by Leafs’ Jonathan Bernier last weekend kept him from his first NHL goal. At first glance, Arcobellos’s top-six role would appear to have an expiry date with Sam Gagner’s return looming.
