Keep an eye on the Lone Star State.

The talk is Dallas Stars owner Tom Gagliardi arrived in town Saturday and isn't pleased his club missed the playoffs for the fifth straight spring, which means GM Joe Nieuwendyk and coach Glen Gulutzan are hanging on by a thread.

Two league executives contacted by the QMI Agency believe Gagliardi could move quickly on both fronts, which means Nieuwendyk and Gulutzan might be packing. The top candidate for the job is Detroit Red Wings assistant GM Jim Nill.

A change could come as soon as Monday.

He has ties with Dallas president Jim Lites from their days with the Wings. Nill has always resisted change but many believe he's ready to make the move. Los Angeles assistant Ron Hextall and former Toronto GM Brian Burke were in the mix.

That may not be the only hotspot.
