By acquiring Jarome Iginla, Brendan Morrow and Douglas Murray, the Pittsburgh Penguins would now appear as close as you can get to being a virtual powerhouse under the restrictions of the salary cap era.

In the process, thanks in part to Ray Shero’s wheeling and dealing along with a 17-game unbeaten streak, the Pens have usurped the Chicago Blackhawks in Mike Zeisberger’s Toronto Sun/QMI Agency weekly NHL power rankings.

1. Pittsburgh Penguins (2)

Iginla + Morrow + Murray = No. 1 in rankings.

2. Chicago Blackhawks (1)

Waiting for Hossa, Sharp to return.

3. Boston Bruins (4)

4. Anaheim Ducks (3)

Coming back down to earth.

5. Montreal Canadiens

Huge shootout win over Bruins Wednesday.

6. Vancouver Canucks (6)
