Sens nation ready to shut up 'arrogant blowhards' known as Leaf fans
By DOUG HEMPSTEAD, QMI Agency

Sensquatch poses with a pitch fork in the Byward Market in Ottawa, Ont. Friday Feb 22, 2013. Sens fans are wondering how they can keep the Leaf fans from buying so many Senators tickets in Ottawa. Tony Caldwell/Ottawa Sun/QMI Agency

Steve VanDenHanenberg of the Red Scarf Union — a organized Ottawa Senators fan group who often occupy section 319 at home games — is fed up with Leaf Nation drowning out the cheers of the Sens Army in its own barn.

“It’s time for people to step up,” he says. “Throw their inhibitions to the side for a couple of hours.”

According to the estimations of Sens president Cyril Leeder, there will be about 6,000 Leafs fans in the stands Saturday night. That’s not even half the crowd, but — as usual — they’re likely to be the ones most clearly heard.

“They’re unruly, arrogant, boorish blowhards,” says VanDenHanenberg.
