The NHL is trying to finalize its new look for next season.
After a failed bid to re-align the league last year because the NHL Players' Association refused to accept the NHL's proposal, commissioner Gary Bettman has gone back to the drawing board and is trying to put a new plan in place.
One scenario the board is being asked to study is the following. It would be different than the two-conference, four-division scenario presented last year that didn't pass and would stick with the current divisions:
