10) Ray Whitney, 2010 Worlds
Playing in his fourth world championship (1998, ’99 and 2003), Whitney was an easy choice as Team Canada captain at the 2010 tournament. It wasn’t a great tourney for Canada, which finished seventh, but Whitney, who turned 38 during the event, led the Canucks in scoring with eight points in seven games, while showing youngsters like John Tavares and Matt Duchene the ropes.
9) Ray Bourque, 1998 Games
Professionals debuted at the 1998 Olympic Games and Canada was the overwhelming favourite. But goaltender Dominik Hasek and the Czechs ended the Canucks’ gold-medal hopes in the semifinals. Bourque, 37, had three points in six games on a team that didn’t have a point-per-game producer.
