CALGARY - Not going to lie, I love 6-3 hockey games.
That’s not just because a high-scoring tilt won by a few goals is so much easier to write on deadline, they’re fun to watch.
Sure, a 2-1 clash when it’s a duel between the goalies with a bunch of scoring chances and end-to-end action, is enthralling.
Too often, though, an affair won 2-1 or even 1-0 is a result of suffocating defensive play or lacklustre performances.
So, it’s a shame to see watch that “tight defence” is already back front and centre in the NHL.
Case in point, the Edmonton Oilers playing a “patient” game to beat the Phoenix Coyotes 2-1 in OT Wednesday night.
The only entertainment came at the end when the Coyotes players were irate at the officials for missing a debatable hand-pass and also started a mini-brouhaha after the winning goal.
