Washington Capitals GM George McPhee feeling heat after slow start
By BRUCE GARRIOCH, QMI Agency

Washington Capitals GM George McPhee (Reuters file)

All eyes are on George McPhee.

With the Capitals winless in four straight to start the season as they head into Buffalo Sunday for a matinee with the Sabres, many are wondering what the Washington GM is going to do to clean up this mess, if anything at all.

It was a 5-1 loss to the Sabres that got coach Bruce Boudreau fired Nov. 28 with a 12-9-1 record. Legendary Cap Dale Hunter took the job before returning to the OHL's London Knights last summer and rookie coach Adam Oates has a difficult job ahead.

For 14 years, McPhee has been GM of the Capitals. But many around the NHL are wondering if the pressure on him from owner Ted Leonsis has ever been greater than it is right now because this isn't the start that was scripted.

Do you think the officiating has been fair in the Kings-Sharks series?
  Yes
  No
No ... but the refs seem to be evening it out themselves
