Brayden Schenn a surprise addition to Flyers' top line

As glad as we were to see the NHL finally playing, the Saturday resumption — without the benefit of exhibition games — was not kind to us fantasy writers with deadlines the same night. 

However, the schedule-makers did at least give us three matinee matches on opening day to glimpse at and perhaps clear up, at least temporarily, some questions concerning line combinations. The rest will have to wait until next week.

Here’s what we found from Saturday’s afternoon games:

-Although they had been practising together recently, Brayden Schenn is the surprise RW on the Flyers’ top line with Claude Giroux and Scott Hartnell. The new trio combined for Philly’s lone goal in Saturday’s loss to Pittsburgh. It was interesting that Schenn was moved off centre to the wing, even with Danny Briere out to start the season. Big Jakub Voracek was thought to be the natural choice to replace Jaromir Jagr, but instead he has wound up on the second unit with Sean Couturier an
