There may not be fireworks in Canada on July 1 anymore.

As part of the proposal tabled to the NHLPA Friday by the NHL, the signing period for unrestricted free agents wouldn’t start until July 10.

Under the terms of the new agreement, teams would have a 10-day period to interview players and then make a decision on what kind of deals they’re going to offer.

“This is going to allow teams to do their homework before spending big dollars,” said a league executive Saturday. “It’s going to give GMs time to think about how they want to allocate their dollars.

Would Seattle be a good city for the NHL to relocate to?
Yes, it'd be a great market.
  Maybe, who knows.
No, they should go to Quebec instead.
