Some are hunters or gatherers.

Some are goaltenders.

Some, it seems, are both.

Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price is under fire for tweeting controversial pictures of himself following a recent hunting expedition with friends.

The images, which were posted to Price’s official Twitter account late Wednesday night, appear to show the two-time NHL all-star holding a fresh kill, which sent some online readers into a tailspin.

Amid Twitter backlash that saw some hockey fans refer to the 25-year-old netminder as a “murderer” and “soulless,” Price hit back with a somewhat reasonable response in the wake of criticism.

“Coyote hunting is a necessity on order to maintain population,” he tweeted. “Too many coyotes = fewer game animals = no meat for my family.”

Price continued: “Some people are hunters and some gatherers.”

The B.C. native obviously didn’t learn any lessons from David Booth’s controversial excursion earlier this year.

The Vancouver Canucks’ winger took heat last May for appearing on reality TV show The Edge and hunting a bear before bragging about the kill over social media.

Many in Vancouver even called for Booth to be traded away from the team, saying they wouldn’t support the Canucks unless the 28-year-old was removed.
