Donald Fehr laid out the basics in an email to the members of the NHL Players' Association on Thursday night, but whether anything the players put forth to the owners remains in an eventual collective bargaining agreement is anyone's guess.

The NHL rejected the counter-proposal, bringing negotiations to a halt. There are no future talks planned.

Fehr, the union's executive director, highlighted the key points in the email to the players, obtained by QMI Agency:

The Vancouver Canucks should replace ex-coach Alain Vigneault with...
  Guy Boucher.
  Lindy Ruff.
  Andy Murray.
  Jacques Martin.
  Brent Sutter.
  Don Hay.
  Other.
