NHL determined to have meaningful season

If the NHL Players' Association signs on the dotted line, the NHL is determined to have a meaningful season.

League sources confirmed Thursday the board of governors tossed around the idea of a 56-game season during their meeting Wednesday. The season would start in late December, with inter-conference play included and the possibility of four games against each team within a division.
