Gary Bettman dodged a bullet.

He took himself out of the room and out of the line of fire.

The NHL commissioner has insisted he'll do anything to get the game back on the ice and that's why he made the move to step back from collective bargaining agreement talks with the NHL Players' Association.

As the two sides held another marathon negotiating session Wednesday in the Big Apple, Bettman sat down with the NHL's board of governors at the law offices of Proskauer Rose in Times Square. But there weren't any fires to put out.

Would Seattle be a good city for the NHL to relocate to?
Yes, it'd be a great market.
  Maybe, who knows.
No, they should go to Quebec instead.
