NHL lockout talks take big step forward
Daly: 'I think everybody wants to get a deal done. That’s encouraging.'By ROB LONGLEY, QMI Agency
Could the man who gave Canada its golden goal at the Vancouver 2010 Olympics also play a significant role in saving a lost NHL season? It will take more than Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby to get a deal done, of course, but it’s believed that Sid the Kid and the man who signs his cheques played key roles in what might have been the most optimistic day of this excruciating work stoppage. What began at 2 p.m. Tuesday and ended a couple of minutes after midnight just might lay the foundation for a deal, though both sides acknowledged that there was plenty of work left to be done. The fact that they are willing to continue that work on Wednesday -- after eight hours of talk on Tuesday -- is another glimmer of hope that a resolution could be nearing. |
