Luongo-to-Leafs deal not done: Gillis
By QMI Agency
The Vancouver Canucks are denying that a trade already is in place that would ship goalie Roberto Luongo to the Toronto Maple Leafs as soon as the NHL lockout ends.
Widespread speculation this week has suggested it's a done deal, but Canucks general manager Mike Gillis tried to quash it Friday.
The rumours are not true, Gillis told TSN.
Gillis did acknowledge that before the lockout he talked with several teams about trading the 33-year-old goaltender. Luongo lost his first-string status during the playoffs to Cory Schneider, who has since signed a three-year contract with the Canucks.
Gillis said as many as five teams were in the running to obtain Luongo.
