Former Calgary Flame Scott Hannan signed a one-year, $1-million free-agent contract Friday with the Nashville Predators.

The defenceman had two goals and 10 assists in 78 games for the Flames last season.

Drafted 23rd overall by San Jose in 1997, Hannan, 33, has 33 goals, 164 assists and 522 penalty minutes over 908 career games with the Sharks, Colorado Avalanche, Washington Capitals and Flames.

ANDREYCHUK'S NUMBER RETURNS

The Tampa Bay Lightning will bring back Dave Andreychuk's sweater No. 25 next season.

Newly acquired defenceman Matt Carle will wear the number, with Andreychuk's blessing. The winger and former captain retired in 2006.

We got Dave's blessing," Carle told the Tampa Bay Times. "That was a big thing for me."

Carle wore No. 25 with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Andreychuk played in Tampa from 2002 to 2006 and, in 2011, was named the Lightning's vice-president of fans.

BRIEFLY

The Montreal Canadiens added to their scouting staff Friday. Former NHLer Donald Audette was hired as a Quebec scout while Mark Mowers was named a professional scout for the Eastern Conference. Trevor Timmins was given a contract extension as director of amateur scouting.

Do you think the officiating has been fair in the Kings-Sharks series?
  Yes
