The push is on in Brooklyn to get the New York Islanders to relocate to the new Barclays Center in 2015.

I am trying like hell to get the Islanders to make Barclays Center their new hockey home," Brooklyn Nets minority owner and Barclays CEO Bruce Ratner told the New York Daily News.

The Islanders' lease at the antiquated Nassau County Coliseum expires in 2015 and attempts for a new facility on Long Island keep hitting obstacles.

The Islanders and New Jersey Devils are scheduled to play an exhibition game at the Barclays Center in the fall that Ratner sees as a test run.

The arena was built primarily for the NBA's Nets and will seat 18,000 for basketball. Because of obstructed sight lines it would seat only 14,500 for hockey.

NO RISK FOR RASK

Tuukka Rask, the new first-string goalie for the Boston Bruins, isn't concerned in the least that he will be working on just a one-year contract.

The 25-year-old signed the $3.5-million deal in June.

"You can't really think of it (as a risk) but sometimes you've got to think what's best for the team and what's best for yourself," Rask told the Boston media Thursday. "I think this is a really good scenario for all of us."

Rask took over the No. 1 job with Tim Thomas taking the year off.

"I've been waiting for a few years now (to be No. 1)," Rask said. "It's going be interesting to see how I handle it and it's going be a challenge, but I'm always up for a challenge and you've just got to make the most of it and have fun."
