Phoenix Coyotes forward Raffi Torres will appeal his 25-game suspension Thursday in New York, according to Sportsnet.
The appeal will be about the length of the suspension, not the suspension itself. Torres will meet with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and a representative of the NHLPA.
Torres was hit with one of the longest suspensions in NHL history for his high, late hit on Chicago Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa in the first round of the playoffs. The 25-game ban was the longest since the NHL handed out a 30-gamer to New York Islanders forward Chris Simon in 2007.
