Final Score: NY Islanders 4, NY Rangers 3 (SO)

Uniondale, NY - Matt Moulson's goal in the fourth round of the shootout lifted the New York Islanders over the New York Rangers, 4-3, at Nassau Coliseum. After the teams traded goals in the first round and misses in the second and third, Moulson skated down the center of the ice and snapped a wrister past the stick side of Martin Biron. The Rangers' John Mitchell had a chance to keep the shootout going, but his five-hole attempt was turned aside by Evgeni Nabokov to snap a two-game slide for the Islanders. Moulson had a goal and an assist in regulation, while P.A. Parenteau scored twice for the Islanders, who improved to 8-8 in games played past regulation this season. Nabokov stopped 33-of-36 shots. Marc Staal, Marian Gaborik and Derek Stepan lit the lamp for the Rangers, who have dropped three of their last four games. Biron made 24 saves.

Final Score: Colorado 5, Columbus 0

Columbus, OH - David Jones backed Semyon Varlamov's third shutout of the season with a pair of goals and an assist, as the Colorado Avalanche cruised to a 5-0 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday. Varlamov stopped 28 shots for his seventh career shutout. Steve Downie and Gabriel Landeskog added a goal and an assist while Matt Hunwick also found the back of the net for the Avalanche, who have won two in a row and three of four. The Blue Jackets, who got 20 saves from Steve Mason, have dropped three of their last four.

Final Score: Buffalo 2, Boston 1 (SO)

Buffalo, NY  - Derek Roy scored in the fourth round of the shootout as the Buffalo Sabres took a 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins. In the fourth round, Roy faked to the backhand before lifting a shot off the right post and past Tuukka Rask. Benoit Pouliot had the final chance for Boston, but Ryan Miller made the glove save on the wrist shot for the win. Andrej Sekera scored the lone goal of regulation while Miller stopped 35 shots for the Sabres, who have run off three straight wins. Zdeno Chara lit the lamp for the Bruins, who have lost three of four. Rask stopped 26 shots in the loss. Boston has not had consecutive wins since the January 10 and 12, going 8-9-2 during that time.
