Lightning defenceman Pavel Kubina has been asked to submit a list of teams to which he would accept a trade, the Tampa Bay Times reported Thursday.

The 34-year-old, who is due to become a free agent at the season, will not play until a deal is completed.

General manager Steve Yzerman would not say if a trade is imminent but the Lightning held Kubina out of practice Thursday.

"We've decided to protect our interest and keep Pavel off the ice until this situation is resolved," Yzerman told the Tampa Tribune. "We're making our decisions on a player-by-player and opportunity-by-opportunity basis. We see potential opportunity to improve our club with regards to Pavel."

Kubina is in his 13th full NHL season, ninth with Tampa Bay, and has 110 goals and 272 assists in 953 games. He also has played with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Atlanta Thrashers. He's in the second of a two-year contract that carries a $3.8 million cap hit.

Yzerman did pull the trigger on one trade Thursday, sending forward Domenic Moore to the San Jose Sharks for a second-round pick in 2012. In 56 games with the Lightning this season, Moore had four goals and 15 assists.

COLUMBUS FIRE SALE

Winger Rick Nash isn't the only Columbus player on the trading block.

Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson also is shopping centres Jeff Carter, Antoine Vermette and Sammy Pahlsson, and willing to take listen to offers for winger R.J. Umberger, centre Derick Brassard and goaltender Curtis Sanford, the Columbus Dispatch reports.

Pahlsson and Sanford are the only potential unrestricted free agents among that group.

KNEE INJURY SIDELINES CLEARY

The Detroit Red Wings placed Dan Cleary on injured reserve Thursday.

The forward has been out since Feb. 8 after aggravating a knee injury. In 55 games this season, the 33-year-old winger has 11 goals and 16 assists.

Forward Henrik Zetterberg will miss at least Friday's game against the Nashville Predators due to a lower-body injury. Zetterberg was hurt Tuesday against the Dallas Stars but finished the game.

The Wings recalled forward Tomas Tatar from Grand Rapids of the AHL.

KNUBLE STAYING PUT

Washington Capitals general manager George McPhee said Thursday he has "no interest in trading" forward Mike Knuble.

Although Knuble, who's sat out the last three games despite being healthy, has said he'd be open to a trade, McPhee's comments indicate that won't be happening any time soon.

"Mike has never -- we haven't had any conversations about -- in fact, we haven't had any conversations period," McPhee told the Washington Times. "He's a great pro, a great guy. We have no interest in trading him. He hasn't asked for that. We haven't talked to him about it."

After scoring 24 goals last year, Knuble has just three in 53 games this season. He also has just eight assists and is a minus-14.
