NHL eyes Michigan Classic
By QMI Agency
The NHL has held talks with the University of Michigan about holding next year's Winter Classic at the Big House.
"We have been approached by the NHL about utilizing our facility for the 2013 Winter Classic," University of Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon said, according to AnnArbor.com.
"There are a lot of complex circumstances that need to be ironed out before anything moves forward. We will have more to say if/when something materializes."
Michigan's stadium holds more than 100,000 spectators.
There has been speculation about the Detroit Red Wings playing in an outdoor game, but Wings owner Mike Ilitch also owns the Detroit Tigers and the much-smaller Comerica Park.
