NEW YORK - New York Rangers defenceman Michael Del Zotto, Florida Panthers forward Tomas Kopecky and Phoenix Coyotes forward Raffi Torres were fined $2,500 by the National Hockey League on Saturday for separate incidents.
Del Zotto was docked for high sticking Kopecky late in Friday's 4-1 Rangers victory, while Kopecky is lighter in the wallet for retaliating with a punch -- which also earned him a match penalty.
Torres was fined for delivering an elbow to the head of Colorado forward Jan Hejda in the second period of Thursday's 3-2 Avalanche victory in Denver.
The amount of the fine is the maximum allowed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and will automatically be placed in the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
