VANCOUVER -- A former hockey enforcer turned broadcaster is facing assault charges in Vancouver.

Dennis Louis "Louie" DeBrusk is scheduled to appear Thursday at the Vancouver Downtown community court on four counts of assault and two counts of mischief under $5,000.

Rogers Sportsnet commentator DeBrusk, 39, was in Vancouver Jan. 7 to work the Edmonton Oilers' 6-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

CKNW radio reported DeBrusk allegedly was involved in an altercation with a taxi driver and a bystander who intervened.

DeBrusk racked up 1,161 penalty minutes during an 11-season National Hockey League career in Edmonton, Tampa Bay, Phoenix and Chicago.
