NEW YORK -- Florida Panthers goaltender Tomas Vokoun, Chicago Blackhawks right wing Marian Hossa and Anaheim Ducks centre Ryan Getzlaf have been named the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the week ending Oct. 17.
Vokoun earned the top honours after a sterling performance between the pipes. The Czech native started three games last week and turned away 89 of the 91 shots he faced. After making 33 saves in a 2-1 loss to Vancouver, Vokoun posted back-to-back shutouts against Calgary and Tampa Bay.
The Second Star went to Hossa after he registered four goals and two assists in four games. He has earned at least a point in all six games this season and entered play Monday tied with Dallas' Brad Richards for the most points in the league with nine.
Getzlaf, the new Anaheim captain, took home the Third Star after leading all scorers with two goals and six assists in four games.
