Stars raise cash for cancer
By KIRK PENTON, SUN MEDIA

The stars will be out tonight at MTS Centre.

Led by team captains Jonathan Toews and Mike Keane, the SuperStar Summer Showdown will showcase plenty of pro hockey talent, but, more importantly, raise money for cancer research.

The NHL star power is strong for the Believe in the Goal Foundation fundraiser, which was created by Winnipeg hockey player Todd Davison before he passed away at age 20 following a battle with cancer.

Davison's hockey friends have continued his crusade in his memory and get together every summer in Manitoba to raise money.

Other players on the ice tonight will be Toews' Chicago Blackhawks teammate Cam Barker, Nigel Dawes and Dustin Boyd of the Calgary Flames, Darren Helm of the Detroit Red Wings, Colton Orr of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Jordin Tootoo of the Nashville Predators and Tyler Arnason of the New York Rangers.

The hockey players hit the links yesterday at Larters at St. Andrews for the Showdown's annual golf tournament.

Tonight's game begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.

The Vancouver Canucks should replace ex-coach Alain Vigneault with...
  Guy Boucher.
  Lindy Ruff.
  Andy Murray.
  Jacques Martin.
  Brent Sutter.
  Don Hay.
