The ugly public divorce of former Maple Leafs enforcer Tie Domi and his estranged wife Leanne has been quietly settled through mediation.

"We have reached a resolution at this point in the case," Leanne said in a prepared statement to the media.

"The resolution is confidential and private and I respect the importances of those terms. I respect the great work of my counsel Julie Hannaford and her team and of the mediator Philip Epstein for bringing us to this point," Leanne said.

She declined interview requests yesterday at her Oxbow Rd. home, citing the confidential agreement. Domi's lawyer was not available for comment.

The split between the Domis became public in September when Leanne revealed Tie's affair with MP Belinda Stronach and alleged Tie threatened to leave her penniless if she hired a lawyer and didn't take his offer of $1 million in cash plus a house worth up to $2 million.

The public feud went behind closed doors as both sides tried to reach an agreement, but mediation broke down in December.

A nasty exchange of affidavits between the Domis brought their divorce back into the public spotlight. Both sides resumed mediation behind closed doors and announced a settlement yesterday.

Leanne alleged that Tie was cutting her off financially, making good his earlier threat, and moved to put his company into receivership to force disclosure of his income and payments. She also threatened to cut off Tie's access to their three children, pending an assessment of both parents and children.

Tie countered that Leanne's excessive spending was pushing him into debt and that her charges of bad parenting were exaggerated.
