The topic of Todd Bertuzzi is expected to be one of the main thrusts of the final conversation among Hockey Canada brass tomorrow in the hours before the 23-man roster for the 2006 Winter Olympics is revealed.

"I would say that is probably a good guess," Canada coach Pat Quinn said when asked whether a decision on Bertuzzi would go down to the wire. "We rely on those who have been seeing him a lot. With Todd, part of it will be history, as it is with all players. If there is a history there, you will rely on history to make the best decision you can."

With the formal announcement at 5 p.m. EST, a conference call is slated to be held in the morning among staff.

"I think in every guy's mind, they are probably pretty close," Quinn said. "As it was in 2002, we went around on the last three or four names and we will do the same thing, I would suspect."

A bit of speculation at one point a few days ago had the decision made on 18 forwards, with five -- Sidney Crosby, Jason Spezza, Eric Staal, Brendan Shanahan and Brenden Morrow -- in the running for the final two spots. Crosby and Shanahan were said to have an inside track.

There's also the decision on when to name the three-man taxi squad that has yet to be made.
