SUN THREE STARS:

1. Mike Comrie, Phoenix -- Scored two goals, including the winner.

2. Philippe Sauve, Calgary -- Stopped 30 shots in the losing cause and made a number of highlight-reel saves.

3. Paul Mara, Phoenix -- Coyotes defenceman had two assists.

TURNING POINT:

With the game tied 2-2 late in the third period, Flames sniper Jarome Iginla had a partial breakaway but his shot sailed wide of the net.

- - -

BIG SAVE:

Philippe Sauve sprawled outward and upward to kick out a shot destined for the top of the Flames net during a Coyotes powerplay in the second period. He rejected Paul Mara's shot from in close with his toe in highlight-reel fashion but the rebound went to Zbynek Michalek in front for an easy goal.

HARD HIT:

Jarome Iginla slammed into Coyotes defenceman Paul Mara on the forecheck along the back boards. The only thing keeping Mara on his feet was the Flame's body squished against him.

- - -

UNSUNG HERO:

Andrew Ference worked hard killing penalties and tied the game at 2-2 in the third period.

- - -

FIGHT CARD:

Byron Ritchie scrapped pesky Coyotes forward Tyson Nash in the second period. The Flames centre showed he could take a punch when Nash connected with a right, although Ritchie wound up on top of the pile when they finally toppled.

BURNING QUESTION:

The Flames know their special teams have been a sore spot so why do they keep taking all those penalties?

- - -

WHAT IT MEANS:

More restlessness among Flames fans.
