The waiting game continues as the NHL and NHLPA draw closer to an agreement on a new CBA.
After meeting until 2 a.m. Sunday night, the two sides reconvened at 7:30 a.m. yesterday and wrapped up around 9:30 p.m. Both sides then met for internal discussions late last night.
Talks are expected to resume this morning -- the ninth straight day the two sides have met in New York.
Ideally, the league would like to make an announcement tomorrow with baseball idle because of the all-star break -- something that might grab the NHL some major headline play in the U.S.
Sources say the two sides still haven't agreed on what would happen if new revenue sources are discovered by the league two or three years into a new CBA and that's part of what's holding up the talks.
"Right now, the NHLPA is grinding out the league on the few remaining issues. The league wants to get this done and the union wants to make them sweat a bit, so they're fighting it tooth and nail," a league source said.
