The NHL is taking its best shot to help find a cure for cancer.

Senators president Roy Mlakar along with alumni members Brad Marsh, Ron Tugnutt and Fred Barrett, were on hand at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario yesterday to help raise awareness for cancer research.

While they visited with the children, they also promoted the sale of green wristbands that say "reach the day" for www.curesearch.org.

The wristbands are available on the NHL's website (www.nhl.com) for $10 for 10, with all 30 teams participating. Proceeds go toward cancer research.

"This is always a tough visit to make," Mlakar said yesterday. "It's nice to see the kids with a smile -- especially when you're with Spartacat -- but it's always tough to digest the situation they are in at such a young age."
