Psyching out game

The puck will drop on an NHL season -- but not until this fall, even though talks resumed today to get the game in gear again. This glimpse into the future of those who usually can't see beyond their wallets comes courtesy the ESP Psychic Expo at the International Centre in Mississauga this weekend.

"September or October," advises Miki, who has been in the psychic business in Toronto for 31 years. "Whenever hockey would normally start it will be back."

Too many would be affected by a shutdown, she says, from fans who miss the game to businesses who miss the fans.

Leanne Haze deals tarot cards and also sees the players heading for the ice in the fall.

"There will be a threat to split into two associations," the cards tell Leanne. "But there will be too much money to lose and they will stay together."

Some are more optimistic that the players and league can work it out.

Rosa says she sees April and the number nine when she thinks about hockey. Those are her initial impressions. "There will be some support and work in April," Rosa says.

But Richard Ravenhawke doesn't see the NHL returning -- ever.

"I just don't see it," he says, almost apologetically. "But in the fall there may be another league with another name."

Psychic Judy Abbott sees a fall return -- and that's coming from someone who says she predicted months ago there wouldn't be a season.

"There will be lots of changes," Judy foretells. "I see three resignations at the top."

Three? Two would probably do it for most fans -- if the departures were of NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and players' association head Bob Goodenow.
